"Brinscall" ROC Nuclear Observation Bunker

Located in a field off Denham Lane on the side of Denham Hill in Brindle, around half a mile beyond Top O'th Lane. Pictures taken September 2007.

Looking up the hill at the bunker which has seen much decay and vandalism since it was closed in 1991.

All that remains of the fencing around the site are the concrete posts. The structure closest to the camera is the air ventilator; the pipe in the middle would have housed survey meter probes, and the structure at the back is the access shaft.

Looking down the access shaft. Unfortunately in recent times, vandals have visited the site; the concrete slab which once formed the step up to the shaft has been thrown down the shaft and is visible at the bottom, and graffiti has been sprayed on the walls.

More information and pictures about the site can be found in the Royal Observer Corps Posts section of the excellent Subterranea Britannica website (don't forget it was officially classified as "Brinscall"!).
